Arda Onur Özkök graduated from Selçuk University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 and practiced as a veterinarian in the private sector between 2004 and 2014, working across pet, poultry, and cattle medicine. During this period he managed 200 bee colonies in a commercial beekeeping operation and is a registered member (#326) of the Bolu Beekeepers Association.
His passion for songbird breeding — which began as a hobby — evolved into a professional pursuit. As a member of the Bolu Ornithology Association, he developed deep expertise in avian reproductive biology. Since 2014 he has been building his academic career at Amasya University, Suluova Vocational School, Department of Veterinary Medicine.
He completed his PhD in Reproduction and Artificial Insemination at Ondokuz Mayıs University in 2021. His current research focuses on the conservation of endangered wild finch species alongside studies on sperm quality, sperm cryopreservation, and artificial insemination in honey bees and songbirds.
In 2025 he founded Veterinary and Zootechnical Sciences (VZS), an international open-access peer-reviewed journal where he serves as Editor-in-Chief and Publisher, leading an editorial board of distinguished academics from Türkiye and around the world.
