The aim of our project is to minimize gender-related reproductive problems in finch species using the data obtained, and thus to address reproductive issues, particularly those caused by the decline in male bird populations due to excessive illegal hunting. For this purpose, the Gloster canary, whose physical dimensions and egg size are similar to many wild finch species, was chosen.
Although there have been studies on the successful storage and freezing of poultry sperm in national and international studies, most researchers have adopted methodologies designed for different animal species. This project is expected to provide new data on the freezing and storage of songbird sperm in light of the effects of current diluents on sperm freezing in canary sperm. The data obtained in our project aims to contribute to determining effective storage conditions for finch species. Thus, the goal is to create ready-to-use frozen sperm for the production of existing bird species through artificial insemination when needed. (The project is complete)
The aim of this study is to determine the sperm quality of canaries fed with sprouted wheat seeds. For this purpose, wheat seeds were sprouted and given daily alongside the basal feed (control feed). At the end of the study, sperm samples were randomly collected from the canaries, and spermatological and oxidative stress parameters were evaluated. (The project is complete)
This study aims to examine the effects of Ferula root powder (FRP) on performance, egg quality, egg oxidant/antioxidant levels, some serum hormone/biochemical parameters, and physical properties of the oviduct in laying hens. (The project is complete)
